The Diaghilev Ball

Description:

The Diaghilev Ball is a traditional Russian ball that will transport guests to the elegance and splendour of the early 1900's. To be held at Rocco Forte's Hotel Astoria in St Petersburg on 27th April, the ball will see 200 people dancing the polonaise, the waltz and the mazurka before sitting down to an exquisite dinner and enjoying ballet performances and opera arias taken from the repertoire of Sergei Diaghilev's 'Ballets Russes'. This will be performed by opera and ballet stars such as Uliana Lopatkina, Vladimir Galuzin, Vasily Gerello and Peter Migunov. The hotel will also host an exhibition of artefacts from the theatrical world, collected by Alexander Vasiliev, a fashion historian and acclaimed expert on the Belle Epoch. Collected money will go to the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
